Re: Ground Water Test Drains
Site evaluations of raw property for on site sewage disposal can frequently identify high ground water, which may require additional ground water monitoring through spring time conditions before a determination of site suitability can be made. Often after consultation with the Health District sanitarian tasked with reviewing the data, the project engineer will opt to design, install and monitor through spring time conditions a ground water interceptor test drain designed to lower ground water to suitable levels. The purpose of the memorandum is to inform all interested parties that effective immediately a design sketch/plan for a proposed interceptor test drain shall be submitted for review and approval to the Health District with the appropriate application and fee prior to test drain installation.
Please let this memorandum serve as notice to all interested parties that other local regulatory authorities such as the Wetlands and Planning and Zoning Commissions should be contacted for any approvals they too may require for such test drains.
Please contact this office if you have any questions.
