Welcome to Be Well! Our goal is to improve the overall health and wellness of employees through wellness initiatives that target risk factors and wellness issues that influence health.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” – Benjamin Franklin

The goal of the Be Well program is to improve the overall health and wellness of employees.  Part of this goal is to make the employees better patients.  Research from the CDC show that 75% of middle-aged adults are not up-to-date on all the recommended preventative services.   Although Be Well can offer you a Reward point for obtaining biometric screening, we cannot provide the follow-up that may be needed.

Going to your health care provider should not only happen when you are sick or not feeling well.  It is important to see this person for a well visit also. The well visit (also called a check-up, annual, or yearly physical) is a scheduled appointment with your health care provider when you are not sick and should be the centerpiece of your wellness year.

Here are some other reasons why the well visit is important.

  • You create a relationship with your health care provider. If you only see your provider when you are sick, they often do not get the chance to have a conversation with you about your overall health, as they are focused on what brought you into the office that day.At the well visit, the provider will be able to speak to you about you current health and medical history, age/risk appropriate health screenings, immunization, and health counseling. You should work to become an active partner with your provider in your own health and healthcare.
  • The examination and blood work/biometric screenings completed while at the well visit will provide you with an understanding of your own unique risk for future health issues such as heart disease, diabetes(and pre-diabetes), and stroke. The healthcare provider can counsel you on whether your results are in the healthy range or not, and as to any follow-up or treatment you may need.
  • You are an individual, you are different than everyone else. With the annual blood work/biometric screenings you will learn your own personal baseline. This will help your health care provider more accurately gauge any changes.
  • The well visit may provide the opportunity for the healthcare provider to detect an issue early. This little bit of time invested in the well visit can save you a lot of time and money in the future if a health problem becomes more serious.
